Chlorine Quartz and Phantom Quartz found from Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan
Gilgit-Baltistan is situated in the northern areas of Pakistan well-known for minerals deposits and blessed with beautiful sceneries. The mountains within this area are among the highest in the world and are rich in some of the best and rarest quality gemstones. Included among these gems are chlorine quartz and phantom quartz which are watch-worn and valued for their distinctive qualities and flashy look.
About Chlorine Quartz
Another type of quartz that is known and considered rather exotic is the so called chlorine quartz, which actually has a greenish tint because of the existence of chlorine, or chlorite, inclusions in its composition. These inclusions quite often present a beautiful internal organization, making the appearance of the crystal intriguing. The green hue may be an almost pale, pale green color and may even be slightly transparent or can be denser and almost have an olive green type of hue, depending on the concentration or as laid in the mix.
About Phantom Quartz
Found within the quartz is what is known as ‘phantoms’, these are images of the smaller structures within the main crystal referred to as phantom quartz due to this structure. These phantom formations are caused by the formation stoppage of a crystal Cause typically, the layers of mineral deposits that develop give the phantoms their appearance. The phantom within the quartz can be of any color depending on the type of minerals that was present at the time of crystallization of the mineral. Such phantoms can be clearly seen as shades of the lines or shapes within the crystal thus making the crystal to have a more than two dimension.
Appearance:
These bunches of chlorine and phantom quartz crystals are different in the size and the shape, the heights are from 10 cm till 4 cm and the width are from 4 cm till 1 cm. 5 cm. The crystals are all hand cut and thus have their own patterns and inclusions adding to the fact that no piece is the same.
Chlorine Quartz Crystals:
Chlorine quartz collected in this assortment has nice green color, it can be from pale green to emerald green.
The chlorite inclusions develop beautiful and complicated internal structures to make each crystal aesthetically perfect.
These crystals are display or study quality as they are characterized by their natural high luster and clarity.
Phantom Quartz Crystals:
The phantom quartz specimens display the desire phantom effect, it means that inside the main crystal it is possible to see the ghost image of other smaller crystals.
The nature of the characters is explained and deliberately presented, which contributes to the fact that the crystals themselves are multi-tiered and otherworldly.
They also possess natural polish and translucence, which accentuates the internal structures of the specimens’ formation.
Natural and Untreated:
Every one of the six crystals in this collection is genuine and has not been enhanced in any way. Most have not experienced a heat treatment or enhancement of some sort and remain in the natural form it which they where created in the earth’s crust. Despite the fact that each—or arguably the fruit Vendor, and Carmichael & Company at least—claimed a generic superiority over competitors, deviance from authenticity detracted from auto value and sales appeal in the eyes of consumers.
