A variety of gemstones Aquamarine Crystals are mined in the Shigar Valley in Skardu, Pakistan. These include beryl, tourmaline, garnet, apatite, topaz, fluorite, zoi, clinozoisite and shale, especially in complex or zoned pegmatites and metamorphic rocks. These are analyzed using an electronic probe microanalyzer and an X-ray diffractometer. The mineral chemistry of each gemstone is similar to that of many other similar gemstones. Field and chemical properties indicate that barrels, tourmaline, garnet, apatite, topaz, and fluorite areas are found in pegmatites which are largely composed of magmatic-hydrothermal fluids in cavities and feathers in the intermediate zone. However, zygote, clinozoisite, and acetate may have a metamorphic origin.
